InterFAX Transition to Rendering with Internet Explorer 10 - Announcement and Testing

Background

With Microsoft about to phase out Internet Explorer 6 (IE6), we're upgrading our fax rendering machines to Internet Explorer 10 (IE10). This may affect the look of faxes you send through InterFAX. We are therefore enabling clients to test how their faxes will look once the transition to IE10 is complete. This page describes how you can perform such tests. We recommend testing our new rendering machines to ensure that you are satisfied with the results.

Document types that are affected:

  • HTML
  • MHT
  • URL
  • TXT
  • Email-to-fax body, where the body is in rich text

How to Test Fax Rendering via IE10?

As part of our staged upgrade to IE10, we're enabling all customers to test our new rendering machines to determine whether they require adjustments to their resulting fax images.

Step 1: Send one or more test faxes by the following method:

If you send faxes via email

Send your fax to {faxnumber}@mx-pilot2.fax.tc (instead of the usual {faxnumber}@fax.tc).

If you send faxes via Web Service (SOAP)

Change your endpoint to ws-ie10.interfax.net (instead of the usual ws.interfax.net), and then send a fax.

Step 2: Check resulting image

If you're satisfied with the results, there's no need for further action. Your documents will be rendered using IE10 from the transition date indicated below.

If your faxes were not rendered to your complete satisfaction, please choose one of two solutions:

a. Adjust your files so that they are compatible with both IE6 and IE10. In this case, no additional action is required. Your documents will be rendered using IE10 from the transition date indicated below.

b. Adjust your files so that they are compatible only with IE10. Once you've done this, contact your local InterFAX representative to ensure that your faxes are rendered only through our IE10 rendering machines starting immediately.

Rendering Upgrade Schedule

11 March, 2013 - Customers are able to start testing Interfax new rendering machine. By default, your documents are still rendered via IE6, but you can test how they will look when rendered via IE10.
